Look for the red sign and lantern with ‘Kirakudo’ written!
In addition to takoyaki, there are other options such as the traditional Kyoto-style okonomiyaki called “betayaki” (400Yen) and karaage (fried chicken) (100Yen and up). You can also enjoy a meal inside the shop.

The interior is filled with numerous photos of customers, creating a warm and homely atmosphere that adds to the enjoyment
Furthermore, with a high school located in front of the shop, the owner expressed the intention to keep all menu priced incredibly low so that “high school students and nearby young children can easily afford them.” This was quite surprising.
The owner mentioned, “Due to the impact of rising prices, we had to increase some prices this year,” but even so, the takoyaki is still astonishingly affordable at just 40 yen per piece! It’s an exceptional price.
Moreover, the exterior is crispy, with tender interior, and rich sauce. It is indeed a flavor that might be perfect for hungry high school students!

The origin of the shop name “Kirakudo” came from the nearby apartment ‘Kirakuso’ This connection highlights that it is a takoyaki shop deeply rooted in the local community.
What does takoyaki signify for the shop owner?
When asked about the significance of takoyaki for the shop owner, they modestly responded, “It’s my partner in work, and we’re enjoying it together.”
Before starting the takoyaki shop, it seems the owner used to run a bento shop. This shop has been in the same state for about 30 years now.
The shop owner was a wonderful person overflowing with love for takoyaki!
